The computer you see above you is almost worthless to you and me. It is a Acer Chromebox CXI2-2GKM Desktop PC and it is a medium-powered little PC box that runs the ChromeOS - which means it is basically just a browser. I even got one of these to demo unit last year. It works exactly like it should which means I get exactly ZERO use out of it. BUT Both my kids and my parents love it. My kids can sign on and do all of their homework, crazy Minecraft video watching and Scratch programming. My parents check their Yahoo/Hotmail account and read/watch CNN/Fox/MSNBC and Facebook. In fact, they don't even know it isn't a Mac or PC.
The best part? They can't fuck it up by installing toolbars or other malware that always winds up on their machines. ZERO maintenance. What's that worth?
Today this little $120 Chromebox deal is pretty sweet. You can scoop up the Acer for $119.99 with free shipping in the 2GB config. Bumping it to 4GB will add $40 to the price but if we're honest with each other, the people using this won't notice. Save your $40.
It has a keyboard and mouse which are wired and bare bones. The actual computer is very small and can be mounted behind a display or hidden away. It has comes with Intel Celeron Processor 3205U, 2GB DDR3L Memory, Intel HD Graphics, 16GB SSD, Digital Media Card Reader -Secure Digital (SD) Card, High Definition Audio Support, 4 - USB 3.0 Ports, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Keyboard and Mouse, 1.21 lbs. | 550 g (system unit only), 1 Year Parts and Labor Limited Warranty with Toll Free Tech Support, Registration/ Limited Warranty Card (DT.Z09AA.003). You can't go wrong with this.
If you don't have a 1080P display laying around, pick up a $100 Dell, HP or Acer with either HDMI or Displayport.
